From low-carbon mobility to new sustainable materials, from data analytics as a tool to fight climate change to circular economy and waste management solutions.
VeniSIA - Venice Sustainability Innovation Accelerator, an accelerator of innovative projects, launched on May 2 its second Call for Ideas to identify Italian and international startups that will have the opportunity to carry out a Co-Innovation project together with partner companies, including Atlantia. The objective is to offer innovative solutions for environmental sustainability. The call will remain open until June 30.
VeniSIA addresses the challenges of sustainable development through an acceleration process in which:
- established companies identify their key sustainable development challenges;
- sustainability researchers and start-uppers develop coherent solutions;
- Master students activate internships within the corporate labs;
- additional independent donors join VeniSIA.
For the 2022 program, seven challenges have been identified on which the startup candidates will have to compete. One is related to Low-carbon Mobility, for solutions on electric vehicles and for innovative infrastructures and intermodal hubs; another one is focused on solutions to increase stakeholder engagement and social acceptance of renewable energy plants. One concerns applications of Data Analytics, AI and IoT technologies for processing, analyzing and monitoring climate parameters from a predictive point of view. Another is about Sustainable Supply Chains, to reduce environmental impact through digitalization and automation; additionally, there is one on the theme of circular economy and Waste Management and, finally, one about Smart Cities and Communities that challenges to propose sustainable buildings, IoT platforms for smart cities, and solutions for circular communities, for sustainable tourism and for digital inclusion.
