The Abertis Foundation and "Beyond Roads | Abertis Innovation" continue their commitment to innovation through a global call to action. They are looking for startups all around the world that can identify innovative solutions that combine satellite and vehicle data with Artificial Intelligence to transform traffic management and road safety.

The participating startups will have the opportunity to become Abertis group suppliers. The 3 finalists will be able to receive prizes for their solutions and will be able to participate in dedicated Connect & Build sessions. The challenge and startup call to action tackles one main question: how could we use AI with satellite and vehicle data to predict, prevent, and manage traffic accidents?

The answer to that question could encompass:

  1. Solutions to predict and/or prevent accidents on our high capacity roads. The solutions must integrate the use of Data and AI for accident analysis, prediction, and prevention, covering the specified areas or other relevant ones, to enable the development of preventive interventions that ensure safety. For example, those solutions could detect patterns that anticipate accidents, implement early warning system, help to preemptively position highway maintenance team, improve predictive models using high-quality data and advanced AI algorithm, optimize the planning of preventive intervention, develop predictive risk analysis tool, and develop autonomous systems for active infrastructure.
  2. Solutions for managing accidents that occur on our high-capacity roads. The solutions should integrate the use of Data and AI to enhance accident management, enabling a faster and more effective response. They should support safer operations, covering both the specified areas and other relevant ones to reduce incident detection time, minimize emergency response time, optimize the routes and positioning of emergency team, and minimize the impact on other road users.
