On Friday July 12th 2024 it went live the single "Connessioni" written by Barkee Bay – an emerging Italian group of young talents that we supported. The lyrics – written by the young artists, all under 30 – are all about the theme of sustainable travel, putting the spotlight on how protection of the environment is at the heart of Mundys’s business strategy. The song was the soundtrack of a Flash Mob(ility) that we organized on July 31st 2024 to brighten the day of people departing from Fiumicino airport managed by our Asset Company Aeroporti di Roma.
After launching our new identity last year, we continue to invest in new musical talents as a way of connecting people. The three artists – all strongly committed to issues around climate change – were chosen to create a soundtrack for summer that could accompany people using the Group’s infrastructures. In keeping with our values, the band of under-30s have used words and music to communicate the cornerstones of our approach to doing business: simplifying daily life and meeting people’s need for increasingly sustainable, integrated and smart forms of transport, providing a unique travel experience and bringing people together.
The flash mob was another initiative we created to connect people and infrastructure during the peak summer travel season. Travellers are indeed at the heart of the our Group’s operations, with our Asset Companies coming together to work on the project called “The Line”. This was a form of reportage, created to tell the stories behind the faces of 75 travellers around the world, shot by the photographer Enrica Panà. Each account was different but linked by a common denominator: our Group and travel experiences in the places where our infrastructure is located. This itinerary took Enrica Panà on a trip from Europe to Latin America in the search for engaging stories, including the one told in the song by Barkee Bay: an Italian band taking the road to share their passion for music with other people.
LYRICS OF "CONNESSIONI"
For Falil, who knows when he sets out but has no idea when he'll be back,
and always knows what he's leaving behind but never what he'll come across.
For Jasmine, who works up in the air,
and dreams about one day cycling to the airport
as she does in summer beside the sea,
believing in all forms of natural energy.
In new ways of travelling, along roads well
lit by LED lamps or solar energy.
For Giulio, who travels light,
with a backpack and a sleeping bag,
carrying just a few clothes,
and a host of stories picked up along the way.
From Nawe Dave and Clara, Yuri Mamadou and Diego,
from Ale Thiago Jenny and Awa, from Silvia Kiriku and Mineko,
from all of us on the move, in a sustainable and innovative way,
from Spain to Mexico City, from Milan to Puerto Rico.
Our actions will determine the future,
setting the pace of movement,
turning up the volume and lowering emissions.
We're in transit and connected,
now that we're closer than we were before,
and Falil met up with Jasmine
and they talked until they fell in love.
Now that I can see that Giulio has changed,
is more aware and focused.
There's still some sand inside his backpack
from the night he spent at the lighthouse.
Life is a journey to be cherished
that makes us free, and what we are
constantly reminds us to be grateful
for this world that must be preserved.
Our actions will determine the future,
setting the pace of movement,
turning up the volume and
lowering emissions.
